UPDATE 2:20 p.m.
Peachland fire chief Dennis Craig says the large electrical outage was caused by a power pole fire along Highway 97 at Drought Hill.
Firefighters have now left the scene, but Craig suggests BC Hydro crews will be working on the power pole for “some time.”
The incident has resulted in single-lane alternating traffic on Highway 97 at the base of Drought Hill.
There is still no word when power will be restored.
UPDATE 1:45 p.m.
BC Hydro has now restored power to Westbank.
Electricity remains out for Peachland and rural Summerland.

BC Hydro crews are dealing with a huge power outage impacting West Kelowna, Peachland and rural Summerland.
Two separate outages are listed on BC Hydro’s map totalling 4,343 impacted customers. The outage stretches from downtown Westbank and Glenrosa, all of Peachland, south to Faulder, Meadow Valley and Shingle Creek.
The outage affecting Peachland started at noon, while the outage impacting West Kelowna started at 10:40 a.m. BC Hydro says crews are on scene.
The cause of the outages is listed as fire. No other details are available.
