Kelowna Gospel Mission making ready to serve their free turkey dinner this Saturday

The Kelowna Gospel Mission is preparing to serve their annual Easter Dinner to residents at their shelter at 251 Leon Avenue this Saturday.

According to the group, the dinner will take place at noon. They will also be serving meals at their two other shelter locations and from their outreach van.

“Easter brings to mind forgiveness and fresh starts,” said Executive Director Carmen Rempel. “Many who come through our doors need exactly that – a fresh start.”

The dining room is currently being decorated to fit the Easter theme. Approximately 400 meals of turkey, ham, stuffing, gravy, potatoes and dessert will be served.

“Our Easter dinner celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus and the promise of a new day. Non-judgmental compassion is at the heart of our gathering. We invite our residents to embrace a fresh start as they step into a new day.”

Twelve volunteers will be on hand to serve the meals. This includes MLA Norm Letnick, MP Tracy Gray and MP Renee Merrifield.

KGM is still looking for help at their shelters following the holiday. Anyone interested in helping out can contact the group by phone at (250)763-3737 or by email here.
