The Kelowna Food Bank is all smiles after the results came in for the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign.

Tim Hortons customers bought over 14,000 Smile Cookies in Kelowna between September 19 and September 25.  At $1.00 a piece, the campaign raised $14,261 for the Kelowna Community Food Bank.

On Friday, Jeremy King, Regional Marketing Manager for Tim Hortons, presented a cheque to the Food Bank.

“We’re very grateful for all the support Tim Hortons customers have shown.  All funds raised will be allocated towards our children’s programs – Tiny Bundles, Vitality and Kids Snack Pack program,”  says Lenetta Thordarson, Associate Executive Director for the Kelowna Community Food Bank.

“We also want to thank local Tim Hortons Management, staff and customers for all their help with the Smile Cookie campaign.  What makes this result so sweet is that we all benefit when children are able to access healthy, nutritious food.”

“This is a perfect example of how working together improves the health of children in our community”, says King.

Tim Hortons has been supporting local communities through the “Smile Cookie” program since 1996.

The “Smile Cookie” program originally began in Hamilton, Ontario to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital.  Since then, it has expanded across Canada helping a variety of children’s charities, hospitals and community programs.
