Kelowna RCMP looking for homeowners of boat discovered adrift on Wooden Lake

Mounties in Kelowna are trying to find the owners of a boat found floating unoccupied on Wood Lake.

“Based on the overall condition of the boat, the RCMP would like to identify the owner or the boat, or people who have used it, to ensure everyone is safe,” a release explained.

Police received a report about the unoccupied boat floating around 60 feet from the north shore of Wood Lake around 9 pm Wednesday.

<p dir=The blue fiberglass boat is around 14 feet in length and has the words ‘RAICHIE POO’ printed on the rear left side.

A pair of yellow and blue plastic paddles, and what appeared to be the base of a child’s car seat, were found in the boat, the police said.

After it was found on Wednesday night, the Lake Country Fire Department assisted with a foot and water search at the north end of the lake, with negative results.

“Although the preliminary night search of the area was reassuring, we want to account for all the boaters using this vessel,” said Cpl. Tammy Lobb.

The RCMP is asking anyone with details about the boat to contact them at 250-768-2880.
