Lakefront improvement with 345 Kelownaown Accredited Properties
Kelowna City Council last week granted final permits for the mixed-use development of a large vacant lot on 3440 Lakeshore Road, which is adjacent to the Okanagan Lake boardwalk in the Lower Mission neighborhood.
The project called Movala by the local developer Stober Group comprises two buildings with a total of 345 apartments in 10- and 14-story towers on a pedestal. The street level is activated by townhouse units and 22,000 m² of retail and catering space.
Movala is one of the largest tower-based, multi-family, mixed-use housing developments in Kelowna outside of the city center. The plot of land for the development used to be a campsite.

“This is an exciting time for our company. After many years of real estate ownership and careful deliberation, we look forward to building this significant community not only on a prime beachfront location, but steps away from shopping, cafes, restaurants and outdoor activities, ”said Dave McAnerney, CEO the Stober Group, in a statement.
“This is a showcase project for our company, but also for our completely local team that we have brought together.”
Designed by Meiklejohn Architects of Kelowna, the tower shapes have dynamic curves and terraced features that provide the condos with private outdoor living spaces, with expansive patios and large windows that take advantage of panoramic lake and mountain views.

Residents also have access to numerous indoor and outdoor amenities, including a business center with work centers, a golf simulator, a fitness center, a yoga studio, a library, a cafe-bar, an outdoor pool, a hot tub, saunas, a cabana beach club , a bowling green, a BBQ on the outside platform with tables for al fresco dining and guest suites for visitors.
Short-term rentals are not permitted at Movala.
A green infrastructure is also integrated into the building, such as the possibility of charging electric vehicles at every parking lot, which is a first for Kelowna.
Construction of the first phase, the 10-story tower, will begin in spring 2022 and will be completed in autumn 2024.
