The Okanagan’s next food-truck rally is setting up shop this month in West Kelowna.
The popular foodie event will see a dozen local food trucks parked side by side to provide guests an abundance of dining options.
“It is a really good way for new people to come out and try the range of food trucks in Kelowna,” says Chick Chick Boom owner Mat Baillie.
“If one truck goes and parks somewhere, we might get 100 customers, but if two park together we can get 300. The more trucks we have, the more people it draws, the better off we all are. It grows exponentially.”
The rally is kid and dog friendly and features a bouncy castle, DJ, face painting and, of course, food.
Baillie says the food-truck culture is popular right now and continues to grow in the Okanagan.
“I had some people come and find me two weekends ago, who had moved to Kelowna about three months ago, and one of the things they specifically wanted to do was check out our food-truck scene,” says Baillie.
He says the food trucks hope to gather a few times a year for these rallies, with rallies in the future planned for the South Okanagan and Vernon.
This month’s event is at the Westbank Lions Club, 2466 Main Street, on June 23 from 4 to 8 p.m.
