Model New Meals Truck Rally to Launch in Kelowna

Kelowna will host its very first Food Truck Culture Rally on Thursday, August 13th as the travelling businesses come together for one night only.

The first annual event will be launched at 1330 St. Paul Street on Thursday near downtown Kelowna and will offer a sampling of what Kelowna food trucks have to offer. According to Surf Side California truck owner and organizer Ian Locket, trying to get all the trucks together in one place has been quite the challenge.

“Summer is a very busy time and it is nearly impossible to get everyone together,” said Locket. “We’re hoping to begin with this rally and then have another one in September or October when everyone can attend.”

There will be a handful of trucks in attendance for the inaugural event including Surf Side California, Chick Chick Boom, Angelina’s Italian Beef, Peter Ze German, and Perch Travelling Boutique.

The trucks will be serving up dinner to hungry customers from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the St. Paul Street location.The event will feature a wide range of foods for customers to try including tacos, frozen treats, Italian favourites, and delicious poutine.

If the first event is successful, Locket hopes to begin organizing a second event in the fall with a ‘harvest type’ theme, and hopefully with all Kelowna’s food trucks in attendance.
