Police officer significantly injured after being stabbed with knife in downtown Kelowna
A police officer suffered serious injuries after being stabbed downtown early Sunday morning.
According to RCMP, at 12:18 am, an officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Ellis Street after hearing reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, the officer requested immediate assistance after quickly being stabbed.
Multiple RCMP members arrived to assist, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect.
Both the officer and suspect were transported to Kelowna General Hospital for injuries. Thankfully, neither of their injuries were life-threatening.
“Our officers face danger and difficult circumstances each and every day in the service of this community,” said Insp. Adam MacIntosh. “Tonight, I am grateful for the incredible work they did in supporting each other and responding to this event. Our thoughts remain with the officer and their family.”
Kelowna’s General Investigative Support Team is in charge of the case. They are asking any witnesses who have not spoken to them to call in at (250)763-3300.
