WATCH: Household day at Kelowna Meals financial institution

An army of volunteers, food bank staff, local dignitaries and even Santa Claus are making Christmas better for local families.

Today is the first of 3 days where people in need can come and get a food hamper for the holiday season.

The Kelowna and West Kelowna community food bank expect to hand out 1200 hampers, today will see over 400 families come through the doors.

Part of family day also allows clients to visit the Christmas store inside the Kelowna Food Bank and select a new toy, one stuffed animal, one book, stocking stuffers, new mittens and a one toque per child per family.
